Crossfit Gyms Review, Costs, Locations & Information

Crossfit Gyms Overview

Crossfit is an extremely popular fitness program that is both an exercise philosophy and a competitive fitness sport. The Crossfit culture has gone beyond just the boundaries of the fitness sphere as it has become a cultural phenomenon across the globe.

At its core, Crossfit is a broad-based strength and conditioning program to improve in all areas of fitness. To that end, Crossfit specializes in not specializing. On a practical level, Crossfit participants workout by engaging in various high intensity movements designed to increase endurance, stamina, strength, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and all other areas of your overall fitness. Though each Crossfit gym has its own persona and methods, the general message of decentralization and anti-specialization is present from one Crossfit gym to the next.

Crossfit Workouts & Equipment

Crossfit participants complete a Workout of the Day (“WOD”) as part of their daily routine at a Crossfit gym. Some of the most common movements include pushups, pullups, sit-ups, clean and jerks, bench presses, squats, box jumps, rope climbs, jump ropes, burpees, kettlebell swings, thrusters, and wallball.

Crossfit gyms use many different pieces of equipment, including dumbbells, kettelbells, medicine balls, resistance bands, rowers, ab mats, jump ropes, boxes, and gymnastic rings.
